NORWEGIAN COMEDY DUO YLVIS’ “THE FOX” CROSSES 100,000,000 VIEWS ON YOU TUBE, BREAKS INTO TOP TEN ON BILLBOARD HOT 100

PERFORMANCES SET FOR “LATE NIGHT WITH JIMMY FALLON” AND THE “TODAY” SHOW

(NEW YORK – October 9, 2013) Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis (Brothers Vegard and Bård Ylvisåker) and their accidental viral video “The Fox (What Does The Fox Say?)” has crossed the 100 million mark in YouTube views, it was confirmed today.

“Wow! 100 million? That’s the same as a billion! I can’t believe we hit a billion! Fantastic!” says Vegard Ylvisaker. His brother and partner Bard is speechless, adding “I’m speechless.”

The duo created the video as a promotional clip for Season 3 of their popular television series “I Kveld Med Ylvis” or “Tonight with Ylvis” on Norway’s TV Norge, which airs twice a week, entertaining Norwegian audiences with their blend of comedy, talk and music.

“The Fox” was uploaded to YouTube on September 3 and quickly became a viral hit, surpassing 20 million views in just one week.

The brothers have since been embraced stateside with their US TV debut on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” a performance at the star-studded iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, sharing the bill with heavy hitters like Sir Paul McCartney, Justin Timberlake and Drake.

Ylvis returns to the states this week to take on New York with appearances scheduled on “Late Night with Jimmy Fallon” tonight and a live-on-the-plaza performance at NBC’s “Today” show Friday.

Now on Warner Bros. Records stateside, “The Fox” is currently climbing Billboard’s Hot 100, making it to the Top Ten in four weeks. They’re currently at No. 8. The song is also burning up the iTunes charts (https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/fox-what-does-fox-say-single/id720919619 ) where it currently sits at No. 14.

Currently the brothers have more videos online from their popular show – many of them in English and all of them hilarious. Some gaining traction include “Stonehenge” and “Work It” which balance their musical ability with their sharp comedic talent. Most recently a “train horn prank” from their Norwegian show was highlighted on The Huffington Post.

Ylvis began their career in 2000 on stage in Bergen, Norway where they debuted “Ylvis – A Cabaret”. The show was a success and they toured it extensively around Norway. In 2003 they premiered “Ylvis – A Concert” to rave reviews and sold out houses across the country. “Ylvis III” hit the stages across Norway in 2007 and broadcasters took notice. They appeared in a handful of Norwegian radio and TV series until the launch of the “Ylvis 4” live show in January 2011. Following the success of “4”, Vegard and Bard launched their TV Series “Tonight with Ylvis” on TV Norge in the fall of 2011.
